Metrosha – an animated character living in the metro

Website www.rian.ru«RIA Novosti»
02 September 2010

МетрошаMOSCOW, 1 September - RIA Novosti.
Since recently Moscow residents can see an animated character named Metrosha on metro video screens – a funny little man wearing the Moscow metro uniform who will become its symbol in the future, RIA Novosti information agency learned from deputy CEO for commercial activity of “Olimp” advertising company Albert Teplitsky.

According to his story, in video clips shown on video screens Metrosha is telling passengers about the rules of conduct in urgent situations, about the rules of metro use. "At the moment 14 videos are screened telling about different situations happening in the Moscow metro ", - says the deputy CEO of “Olimp”, the company dealing with positioning of advertising in the Moscow metro, including the video screens.

"The idea with Metrosha is that he “communicates” with passengers. Visual information supported by text is perceived more easily and is memorized practically on the subconscious level ", - explained Teplitsky.

He added that six characters were tested for Metrosha’s role and only one of them was selected – the amusing little man wearing the Moscow metro uniform.

"Dmitry Gaev, the Metro Head also liked this character and he gave him this name - Metrosha", - noted Teplitsky.

He said that passengers positively respond to the innovation, "for many of them the character is really a source of useful and helpful information, and does not annoy them ". As of today 152 video screens are installed in the metro and another 50 will appear in the nearest future. Very soon Metrosha will appear on escalator boards and on other advertising carriers.

"Sooner or later the Metrosha image will personify Metro in general. And his image will be used in various materials in the Moscow metro ", - concluded Teplitsky.

Moscow metro will be transferred into a photo gallery

17 August 2010

Pictures taken by Soviet photographers from top information agencies: APN, Information Telegraph Agency of Russia, RIA Novosti, will enrich the Moscow metro for three months. “Olimp” company and Lumiere Brothers Center of Photography organized this exhibition of photographs about the life in the 60’s and 70’s of the last century.

Photographs will appear in the Moscow Metro on more than four thousand different advertising surfaces. As “Olimp” representatives told Sostav.ru, the project being implemented with the Lumiere Brothers Center of Photography is unique, no such projects have ever been carried out in the subway before, and especially with such a wide scale. Several months have passed from the initial idea till project implementation, but “Olimp” people say this is a rather short period necessary to coordinate all details, to decide about the subject and select the works. Upon the project completion the photographic works (the originals) will be displayed at the Center of Photography for some more time, while the posters (escalator boards, rollers, stickers in train cars) will be disassembled when the project is finished.

Passengers will encounter the photo masterpieces inside station halls, on roller light boards. Pictures will be placed on escalator boards. And, finally inside train cars any passenger will be able to scrutinize the photographs in every detail. Posters will move inside the metro using the “floating” mode and will migrate from station to station so that all metro passengers could see them all.

Natalya Grigoryeva, director of the Lumiere Brothers Center of Photography noted that the initiators are confident this retro-project will be interesting to both, those who lived during those days as well as to those who know about that epoch only from family albums and old movies. While working on this project experts selected only landmark pictures defining each author’s style, artistic handwriting of each photographer, unique emblems of that time.

"Recart-31" takes care about the environment using its new bus stops

Website www.sostav.ru.Ru
13 Jule 2010

"Recart-31" company has installed its first experimental solar-powered illuminated bus-stop pavilions in Moscow.

These structures are unique since power is supplied to the pavilion without using the urban electric network and that has a positive impact on the city environment.

Besides the design of these new bus stops allows placing advertising city-format posters on the pavilion walls illuminated during the night attracting additional attention of pedestrians, drivers and people waiting for their bus.

The company experts think that advertisers will be interested in new opportunities offered by such pavilions: carrier attractiveness and recency effect, the same moderate price of advertisement positioning, interest of consumers to possible additional options offered by new bus-stop pavilions.

The first experimental prototype pavilion was erected in the Northern district of Moscow. It represents a structure made of metal and glass; it is safe for passengers and resistant to external mechanical action. The pavilion roof contains special battery cells that accumulate solar energy during the day time allowing providing illumination in the evening and during the night time. The solar cells are installed in such a manner that they provide the most solar energy absorption even during cloudy and rainy days.

Upon completion of its experimental operation of the bus stop Recart-31 is planning to start substituting the new structures for a part of its network consisting of 5 thousand bus-stop pavilions with city-format commercial modules located in all districts of Moscow and in the vicinity. Such bus stops are already being used in a number of Western countries, and by adopting this experience from its foreign colleagues "Recart-31" not only follows the global trends of saving the environment but also introduces useful high-tech solutions to the everyday life of people.

“Olimp” positions Moscow metro route maps and advertising on carriage windows

Website: www.Outdoor.Ru
23 june 2010

Starting from July 2022 “Olimp” starts to place Moscow metro route maps on carriage windows. This innovation will be implemented in the new type of metro carriages only (“Rusich” carriages). Such maps will be positioned on all lines where the new metro trains run. The map represents a semi-transparent plastic sticker with all familiar colors and map dimensions preserved. The plan is to place six route maps in each car – twice as much as the old-design carriages have.

Stickers with the metro route map are made using the method of offset printing on transparent film. Inside tunnels the image turns bright and is easily read while at metro stations one can see everything through the stickers. The module containing commercial messages is printed independently from the route map on a non-transparent film and may have either a single- or a double-faced image. The module dimensions are 19х45 cm.

“The idea of such metro route maps positioning appeared together with the introduction of the new metro trains and is now being adopted and extended, - says Albert Teplitsky, Deputy Commercial CEO of «Olimp» LLC. - Keeping in mind the fact that “Rusich” carriages practically lack surfaces where usual route maps could be placed, and most of the passengers dislike the format of existing route maps, Olimp’s initiative to carry them over to carriage windows will make it considerably easier for the passengers to find their way in the Metro even during rush hours .”

Apart from passenger convenience the new route maps will be interesting to advertisers as well. The latter ones will get a unique opportunity to place their advertising on an absolutely new carrier inside the carriage constantly located within the passengers’ eyeshot. The recency and location convenience effect will also grow due to the route map itself which is an information source for Metro users. According to the studies carried out by TNS Gallup Media the level of attention to advertising placed on route maps amounts to about 85%. Another important fact is that advertisements on the new route maps are not rigidly attached to the image of metro lines and as a matter of fact are independent advertising stickers.
